🤔 FAQs

These are the questions asked about making Chocolate Turtles recipe.

How do you make pretzel Rolo pecan treats?

You just need three ingredients: pretzels, pecans, and chocolate caramel candy. In the oven the candy melts onto the pretzel and then you press the pecan onto the soft chocolate.

What are chocolate turtles?

Turtles are a candy made with pecans and caramel dipped in chocolate, with a shape resembling a turtle

What nuts are in chocolate turtles?

Pecans are the nuts that go in chocolate turtles.

How long do chocolate turtles last?

The candy chocolate turtles should stay fresh for several weeks. It's best to store them in an airtight container away from strong odors such as scented candles, onions, and spices. They should also be kept in a cool place, not too hot or cold.

It's difficult not to sample one or two or three Chocolate turtles especially when they are homemade.

👩🏻‍🍳 Tips

  • You can use any type of melting chocolate disks instead of the white chocolate chips.
  • Be sue not to use unsalted pretzels. The turtles taste much better with the salt.
  • When drizzling the white chocolate in step 6, you can spoon the melted chocolate into a sandwich bag and cut one of the corners off to make your own piping set or you can use a spoon.
  • To cool the turtles more quickly, they can be put in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes.

📚 Variations

  • Milk Chocolate: Instead of Rolo chocolate Candy, use a Hershey Kisses or M&M’s. White chocolate is good too. If you use m&m’s, try variations such as peanut butter, peppermint or dark chocolate.
  • Nuts: Substitute almonds for pecans. For a change, crush the nuts instead of leaving whole. and sprinkle it on top of the warm chocolate.
  • Pretzels: Try a variety of shapes such as the twist or square pretzels. You need enough of a pretzel to hold up the chocolate as it melts.
  • Seasonal: These can easily be made for Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, birthday parties, Game Day, Independence Day and more. Use red and green M&M’s for Christmas and spring colors for Easter.
  • Caramel or Chocolate Drizzle: Instead of white chocolate, stream a ribbon of caramel or chocolate over top of each rolo pretzel turtle.

🥫 Storage

Store the delicious Valentine's Day Chocolate Truffles made with pretzels in an airtight container. Keep the container in a cool, dry place. If you live in a humid area then I recommend storing them in the refrigerator.

I suggest placing a layer of wax paper in between the chocolate covered treats so they don’t stick to each other.

The Chocolate Turtles will last at least 1 week. That is if you have enough self-control.
