🤔 FAQs
These are the questions we are most frequently asked about making Chocolate Truffle Bites.
No. Cool whip and like brands are considered stabilized whipped cream. Their makeup is entirely different than fresh or canned whipped cream. In this candy recipe, the two are not interchangeable.
I haven't been able to test this out because we can never keep the truffles longer than a week or two. But it should keep for up to 30 days.
Keep them in an airtight plastic container, the layers separated with parchment paper. Or you can keep them in a freezer bag but we like to separate the layers. The candy is best kept cold.
No, you don't. You can swap out other types of chocolate but I believe that the milk chocolate morsels are the best for melting and consistency. You may also use white chocolate for dipping, that's up to you.
👩🏻🍳 Tips
- Be sure to allow your chocolate chips to cool before adding in the Cool Whip. Otherwise, the Cool Whip will melt and your candy will not set up.
- These Chocolate Truffles need to remain cold at all times, so be sure to store them in the freezer until you are ready to enjoy them.
- There is no need to "thaw" these sweet treats, you can enjoy them straight from the freezer.
📚 Variations
- You can use any type of sprinkles on top of your soft candy bites to match the occasion.
- Use melted candy wafers in a piping bag or storage bag with the tip cut off to drizzle the top of the chocolate truffles with additional chocolate. I think a white chocolate drizzle looks great on top of these.
- You could also top these with crushed candy, or peppermints for additional flavors. Just be sure to add the crushed candy before the chocolate topping dries.
- Make dark chocolate truffles by using dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate.
🥫 Storage
These soft Cool Whip candies can be stored in the freezer for up to 30 days, just be sure to move them to an airtight container once they have set.
