👩🏻🍳 Tips
- You can make this recipe with milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips, or even white chocolate chips.
- I recommend spraying your baking pan well with nonstick baking spray. You could also line your baking pan with parchment paper if you want easy removal.
- Be careful not to overmix the batters once you add in the flour. Mix until just combined so that your dough doesn't become tough.
- It's important that your butter is at room temperature for the chocolate chip cookie part of this dessert. You want a smooth dough. Cold butter will result in lumps.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips so that they don't break apart while you are mixing them in.
📚 Variations
- If you want a little extra crunch in your brookies, you can add chopped nuts to the batter.
- For a fun twist, try adding a layer of peanut butter or Nutella between the cookie and brownie layers.
- You can also add peanut butter to the chocolate chip cookie dough if you love peanut butter cookies.
- Make these bars festive, by topping them with sprinkles that match your occasion.
🥫 Storage
Brookies are best eaten fresh, but they can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
If you want them to last longer, you can store them in the freezer for up to 3 months. Defrost in the fridge overnight before serving.
