Smoked Pull Pork Tacos

These Pulled Pork Tacos are a great way to turn a meal into an event. They're easy to prepare and make a delicious crowd-pleaser. The tacos are made with slow cooked pork shoulder that is bursting with flavor. You can add any toppings you like such as cheese, guacamole, salsa verde, or sour cream to make the perfect meal for your family.

  1. Let the meat come to room temperature.
  2. Sprinkle BBQ seasoning or Southwest Seasoning and Rub on the meat.
  3. Rub the BBQ seasoning all over the pork shoulder.
  4. Once the pork shoulder is well seasoned place it in the smoker.

  1. Smoke over indirect heat for 3-4 hours or it reaches an internal temperature of 180℉-190℉.
  2. Let rest for 10 minutes before pulling.
  3. Pull the pork using 2 forks, removing any excessive fat.
  4. Season with more BBQ seasoning if desired.

  2. And top with the shredded red cabbage, tomatoes, red onion and jalapenos.

  • If you can't find a pork shoulder roast, you can use a boston butt instead.

Storage - These tacos can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.

Reheating - Reheat in a preheated oven at 350℉ for 10 minutes. Alternatively, you can reheat in the microwave.

Freezing - The cooked meat can be frozen in a freezer safe bag for up 3 months.

Equipment Needed

  • Smoker Any grill that will cook low and slow
  • Thermapen Instant Read thermometer
  • Sharp knife
  • Non-skid cutting board

Ingredients

  • 2 lb pork shoulder room temperature
  • 3 tablespoons BBQ seasoning Southwest Seasoning
  • 12 soft taco shells 4-inch
  • 1 cup red cabbage shredded
  • 2 jalapenos sliced
  • 2 roma tomatoes diced
  • 1 cup red onion diced
  • optional toppings and sides queso, cilantro sauce, chopped cilantro, spicy ranch, taco sauce, hot sauce, sour cream, salsa, Spanish rice, tortilla chips.

Instructions

  • Preheat the smoker to 250℉.
    Rub the BBQ seasoning all over the pork shoulder and place in the smoker. Smoke over indirect heat for 3-4 hours or it reaches an internal temperature ot 180℉-190℉.
    Let rest for 10 minutes before pulling.
  • Pull the pork using 2 forks, removing any excessive fat.
    Season with more BBQ seasoning if desired.
  • Assemble the tacos, start with approximately 3oz of the pulled pork and top with the shredded red cabbage, tomatoes, red onion and jalapenos. ** see notes

Try a combination of any of your favorite toppings, or set them up as a taco station for a party or get together.
The pulled pork can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container or ziplock bag.
The pulled pork can be frozen with all air removed for up to 4 months in the freezer in a freezer safe ziploc bag.
