Have you ever seen an outfit in a magazine or in a store that you absolutely loved? The color . . . the style . . . the accessories . . . the way it was all so put together was just perfect? It was a look that spoke to you . . .
. . .try me . . .
. . .and so you went and got everything that made it so perfect.
You're very excited . . .
. . . you put on the outfit . . .
. . . you look in the mirror . . .
. . .it's totally wrong!!
It's not you . . .not even close . . .but what's worse is that it makes you feel like a phony!
This is what's been going on with our home décor. I love what the talented decorators do with their client's home or with their own. The colors . . . the style . . . the accessories . . . and the way they combine them all is perfect. It's beautiful.
I tried to duplicate some of their style but . . .it didn't fit . . . it wasn't me. I kept trying . . . different combinations but always with their same basic style . . .
. . . I even thought that with the element of the sea, as in the living room at Hometalk, I would find that it suited . . .
. . . it didn't!
Now I am back to the drawing board. . . but this time it's different . . . I am going to use the colors . . .
. . . and the elements such as stone . . . wood . . .earth . . .water . . .that is basic to the Tuscan style.
These are the very elements that make the Tuscan style so appealing . . . it's a design where the past is always present. There is a layering and editing that culminates it into a stylish look that's always comfortable and easy to live with. The countryside belonged to the farmers and so the homes were very simple. It's this simplicity that makes it so appealing. The colors came from the countryside, they were the natural occurring pigments of the earth.
These bold rich colors of the Italian countryside are what I've always gravitated to . . . those are the colors that make me happy. They reflect the look that fits me and my family so well. I am anxious to begin and I hope that you will follow me on my journey to completing the All Our Way Tuscan inspired home.
