"Mamma" an Italian Mother's Day tribute
One of the most famous Italian songs is "Mamma." Many artists, Italian, and American-Italian, have performed this song. I picked out Luciano Pavarotti's version because I think his rendition best expresses the joy {tanto felice} of returning home to his mother.
The singer tells his mother how much he loves her {quanto ti voglio bene} and vows never to leave her again {e per la vita non ti lascio mai piú}.

My mom loved Pavarotti. I have fond memories of taking her to one of his concerts.
We use to play his music all the time at the nursing home for her. The day she took her last
breathe, I had her CD player with his music on all day.
Thank you for reminding me how beautiful his voice is.

This brings tears in my eyes, remembering how my mother used to sing this when I was growing up. She left her mother across the ocean to marry my dad, and I know she missed her family in Italy so much. Happy Mother's Day. Pavarotti is THe best. Grazie.

Our mamma's really appreciated their mothers -- this song is at the core of it. I still get teary-eyed talking about my mamma. Happy Mother's Day to you!
