Ingredients

  • 2 sub rolls or hoagie rolls
  • 4 slices of mozzarella cheese
  • 5 slices pepperoni
  • 3 slices salami
  • 3 large or 6 small slices of ham
  • ½ cup chopped red onion
  • 2-3 chopped baby peppers or pepperoncini peppers.
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1 cup of shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • 1.Start by chopping the mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, salami, and ham. Place them in a bowl together.
  • Chop baby peppers and tomato, add them to the bowl with shredded lettuce and chopped red onion.
  • Add mayonnaise, salt, pepper and Italian seasoning and mix everything together.
  • Layer sub rolls with filling generously.
  • Close the sandwich and slice in half before serving. Enjoy your Italian chopped sandwich!

Notes

TIPS: 
  • You can prepare the salad ingredients a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator. Just remember to leave out the mayonnaise and shredded lettuce until you're ready to put together the Italian sandwiches.
  • It's best to chop the filling ingredients into small uniform-sized pieces for the best texture.
  • Serve these Italian chopped sandwiches as open sandwiches or on crostini as a delicious appetizer. I even enjoy eating this salad by the spoonful!
  • The salad ingredients are super juicy together with the mayonnaise. To avoid soggy sandwiches, make sure to only load the sandwich buns when you are ready to serve them.
